this is the line that came through tennessee moving into eastern tennessee. now, into east central kentucky and into central ohio. this is sweeping east and will get closer to the metro area. i don't think until later in i day. the leading edge will be moving into our western suburbs. by midnight, it's going to be sweeping right into the metro area. by then, it should be weakening. much colder air moving in and some snow showers in the mountains. we're in the 60s. incredible changes on the way. four-day forecast, windy and colder tomorrow. after we hit the low to mid 70s this afternoon, we'll plummet to the 40s tomorrow. and it will drop gradually, down to the 30s after sunset with gusty winds and we'll have sunshine. maybe some snow flurries on friday morning in the 20s. afternoon highs only in the mid 30s. the teens on saturday morning. near freezing on saturday afternoon. could get flurries saturday night. still cold on sunday into monday. i'm back with frequent updates throughout the morning. eun? >>> tom, thank you. a major mess on the beltway right now.

the precipitation i'm watching is still way out here across western tennessee. the later models have been coming in this morning and indicating our dry saturday is intact. clouds coming in late tonight. now the computer model is sending a little less moisture a little further to the south. i may be optimistic hoping for up to maybe an inch of snow north and west of the washington area. then the drier air comes right back in. on our microcast model here, you can see up close and personal the clouds coming in late tonight into early tomorrow. any precipitation chances are just now down to the south. the previous run had just a little more moisture along the i-95 corridor. so we'll see how it all shakes out. don't expect much in the way of snow accumulations around here. generally up to, that's the maxim maximum, i think. so sunshine this morning. high clouds coming in later this afternoon. on the whole, not a bad day to be outside today. and tomorrow will also be a good, usable outdoor weather day. some clouds around late tonight into early tomorrow. nothing to wo

it's now sweeping into eastern indiana, western ohio, central kentucky, central tennessee. this is all sweeping east. it's a squall line with heavy downpours. maybe damaging winds. out ahead of that, gusty winds. all these zones in the beige color under a wind advisory. gusts of 50 miles per hour mainly on the higher ridges in the shenandoah valley and the blue ridge, as well as on eastern shore. we could have coastal flooding along the tidal potomac and on the chesapeake bay. noon today, until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. here's the timing. by 8:30 this evening, this yellow and orange zone, this is the zone of potential severe storms moving in to the shenandoah valley and then right into the metro area by about 9:00, 10:00. then sweeping east of there. by midnight, much of it is going to begin to diminish and will clear out by dawn on thursday, we'll get sunshine back and turning colder. here's the time frame with our temperature today. soaring to the low 70s by around 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. then the winds increasing, gusting to around 30 miles an hour and the higher elevations near 50.
